Thursday May 14th

Today we had numeracy rotations.  Please ask you child about some of the strategies they have been working with this week.  We also started our last system that we will be learning about in our body study, the nervous system. Homework this weekend:  - no school tomorrow or Monday  - home reading (lit. circle book) Have a great long weekend!

Wednesday May 13

In gym today the students played four corner soccer.  This afternoon we discussed what animals played a role in the fur trade. Homework:  - home reading (your novel)  - return green folder Have a  good night!  

Monday May 11

This afternoon we started our Literacy Circles with our new novels.  We have eight different novels being read in our classroom right now.  Ask your child which novel they are reading.   Tomorrow from 2-3pm we will be hosting student led conferences in our classroom.  You do not need to stay for the full hour, but that this the time the classroom will be open for coming in.  If you are not able to attend, please let your child know and they will bring some work home to share their learning with you. Homework:  - unfinished work  - home reading   - open house from 2-3pm Have a good night.  

Monday May 4th

Today we listened to book talks about a variety of novels that we will be choosing to read for literacy circles that will be starting soon.  This morning we worked on finishing planning our plot for our stories.  We will start writing our rough copies tomorrow!  Homework:  - home reading  - library books  - gym tomorrow  - email home last night  - class photo coming home today  

Friday May 1

This afternoon we all worked on completing Pop Tart art created with Model Magic.  The students will be creating stories to go along with their art.  We also did fast fact practice and Big 5s this morning.  Some students are still behind on a few assignments.  I have asked them to please make sure that these are caught up over the weekend as the weeks are getting busy. Homework:  - year 6 notice going home  - unfinished work Have a good weekend! 

Thursday April 30

This morning in our exploration of story writing we talked about setting and the importance it brings to a story.  We had a great discussion about how changing the season, year or time a story is written can have a big impact on the story.  It was nice to see a lot of independent math lab work happening in the room today. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - WITW oil (5/6) is due by lunch tomorrow  - Pop Tart planning and setting  - French food plate (5/6) due by lunch tomorrow Have a good night! 

Wednesday April 29

This afternoon we discussed the heart and did an experiment looking at the difference in our pulse from a resting state and again after short and prolonged exercise.  We also started looking at narrative writing this week and today focused on creating character traits for the main character in our upcoming story. Homework:  - poem if not complete  - character traits if not complete  - French if not complete  - any unfinished work (you won't get to start building your character with model magic until you are caught up) Have a good night!
