Mrs. Elliott's Montessori Classroom

We ended the day with lots of laughs and giggle.  Once students had finished their work they were allowed to celebrate with some well earned choice time.  This included what turned into a large game of Apples to Apples. For those students who were away, please ask them to share their finished typed letter to their cause with me once they are done.  We will look at these together when we get back. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Spring Break full of many laughs and wonderful memories made.  See you in two weeks! 

This afternoon we had little buddies and we helped them make leprechaun traps.  In health they did an activity with reptiles and amphibians.  Tomorrow we will be trying to get our letters typed out before the break.  Please make sure your child has started and RETURNED their notes and rough copies. Goals are also being brought home today.  Homework:  - home reading  - permission slip  -  any unfinished work before the break Have a good night. 

Today we worked on planning our letter on our cause.  Many of the children have started their rough copy.  The goal for tomorrow is that our rough copy is done so we can work with a friend and do some peer editing.  If your child does not have their plan complete, it is homework.  In gym today the students played Donut. Today all of the students took part in a practice numeracy assessment.  The fives and sixes will write these after spring break.  They have the students break down a word problem looking at the numeracy cycle to guide their thinking.  The grade fours completed a student learning survey this afternoon. This morning we read the book Ada's Violin and learned about an orchestra created from garbage.  We had a work block in the classroom for a large portion of the day.  Many children are not always using time wisely right now and some will be coming home with homework this week in the hopes that they will not have homework over Spring Break. Homework tonight:   - home reading  - library books back tomorrow  - gym tomorrow  - cause research needs to be completed and returned for Wednesday   - Shamrock colouring if not complete  - Paralympian biography if not complete  - any math packages should now be complete Have a good night! 

Today your child will be bringing home some research questions that will require some adult help to complete.  Please support them in answering these questions so that they are able to write a letter next week to show their support of the cause they have chosen. Math packages should all be finished and turned in to me tomorrow by the end of the day.
