Mrs. Elliott's Montessori Classroom

Today we started our literacy rotations.  Please ask your child to tell you about their lessons.  This afternoon we started to plant the school garden.    Homework tonight:  - home reading  - gym tomorrow  - library tomorrow   - Business of Our Own (grade seven) sale starts tomorrow (items between $1-$7) Have a good night. 

It is so hard to believe that we are in the last week of May! Today we did our final Non Fiction Reading Assessment of the year! This afternoon we got in our lit circle groups.  The groups are having great conversations about their novels! Homework:  - home reading  - library books back tomorrow (Wednesday is our last library day of the year!)  - gym tomorrow  - we will be outside planting the garden tomorrow (weather permitting) Have a wonderful evening! 

Today we watched YOU Dance from the National Ballet of Canada.  The students were asking some great questions about dance/ballet and noticing a lot of differences in the different styles of dance.  We had a work block day today and the students got a lot of work completed. Homework:  - novel readings need to be finished to the third section for Monday  - Scholastic Book Orders due tonight (I will be submitting the order in the morning) Have a wonderful weekend. 

 We had Eureka come in to the classroom this morning and do some work/review on the Circulatory System. We marked our final system today!  We will be doing a review quiz next week.  Tomorrow is the Zone Track meet, good luck to those attending. Homework:  - home reading  - unfinished work Have a good night! 

This afternoon we worked on our Literacy Circle novel groups.  Please ask your child about their novel.  At this point their first thinking page should be complete and their second one should be in by Friday.  In gym today the students played Gaga Ball, Handball and Basketball. Homework:  - home reading  - Thinking Page One if not complete  - unfinished/late work  Have a good night! 

Today we had numeracy rotations.  Please ask you child about some of the strategies they have been working with this week.  We also started our last system that we will be learning about in our body study, the nervous system. Homework this weekend:  - no school tomorrow or Monday  - home reading (lit. circle book) Have a great long weekend!
