Monday March 9th

This morning we read the book Ada's Violin and learned about an orchestra created from garbage.  We had a work block in the classroom for a large portion of the day.  Many children are not always using time wisely right now and some will be coming home with homework this week in the hopes that they will not have homework over Spring Break. Homework tonight:   - home reading  - library books back tomorrow  - gym tomorrow  - cause research needs to be completed and returned for Wednesday   - Shamrock colouring if not complete  - Paralympian biography if not complete  - any math packages should now be complete Have a good night!

Thursday March 5th

Today your child will be bringing home some research questions that will require some adult help to complete.  Please support them in answering these questions so that they are able to write a letter next week to show their support of the cause they have chosen. Math packages should all be finished and turned in to me tomorrow by the end of the day. Wednesday March 4th

Today our "Math Monday" was a Would You Rather...The children had to decide if they would rather have a buy 3 get one free sale.  Or get 20% off their whole purchase.  Ask your child what they chose.  We carried on working on our sewing and art projects.    Homework:  - home reading  - grade 5 should be finished to page 7 on their perimeter and area package  - Respiratory Quiz Tomorrow Have a good night.

Tuesday March 3

This afternoon we worked on our fine motor skills and our colouring skills.  Many colouring assignments lately have been rushed.  So we are create a Pop Art Shamrock to focus on staying in the lines, not having white space show through and colouring in the same direction.  The fives and sixes also learned/reviewed the days of the week/months of the year in French today. Homework:  - home reading  - Changemaker project  - 4's and 6's math packages  - gym  - library   - bake sale  - Montessori letters for next year  Have a good night!

Friday Februray 27th

Today we marked our Respiratory Packages.  We will be having a quiz on this system next week.  This afternoon the students all shared their independent explorer research with each other.   Homework this weekend:  - home reading  - compare/contrast Welcome Song paragraph if not complete  - respiratory title page if not complete Have a wonderful weekend!

Thursday February 26th

The students all shared some information this morning about the Changemaker that they read about yesterday.  Today I have given each child a brain storming form.  I am asking them to think of a cause that is important to them that they will be doing some research on.  This will require some help from parents at home. Homework:  - home reading  - 50 word dictation tomorrow  - Montessori form (grades 4 and 5)  - unfinished/late work (Explorer work, maps, word study 12)  - respiratory system  Have a great evening!

Wednesday February 25th

This morning we went down to the gym to view some of the science fair projects.  This morning each student was also given a different person who has had an effect on a cause (humanitarian, engineers, philanthropists...).  Tomorrow we will be sharing out who we learned about and what they have done to better our world. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - Explorer 2 due at the end of the day tomorrow  - Respiratory Package due Friday  - Word Study 12 homework if not complete (we will be marking tomorrow)  - Pink Shirt Day Friday  - Young Author's due Friday Have a good night!
