Mrs. Elliott's Montessori Classroom

We were invited to go and watch the band concert this morning.  They did a great job and there was a lot of toe tapping in our classroom.  We took a little time this morning to reflect on our final term at school and think about our learning. Homework tonight:  - library books back ASAP  - gym tomorrow  - missing work (playground story, math packages on probability and graphing, novel reflections up to number four) the year is almost over and I have a few missing assignments out there still! Have a good night! 

Today instead of a Big 5 the students had to complete a probability activity.  We created groups today that will be looking at the different regions of Canada.  Each group will specialize in one of the regions and create a slide deck and presentation to share that learning with the class. Homework this weekend:  - home reading  - Lit. Circle 1-3 are now overdue  - probability package if not complete  - playground writing if not complete  - save recycled materials for a Maker Day next Friday Have a wonderful weekend. 

Today we had our literacy rotations.  The students worked on quotation marks and homophones.  Please ask your child to tell you the difference between our, hour, are, two, to, too and their, there and they're. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - novel study weeks 1-3 should be handed in or need to be completed  - fur trade booklets are overdue Have a great evening! 

Today we started our literacy rotations.  Please ask your child to tell you about their lessons.  This afternoon we started to plant the school garden.    Homework tonight:  - home reading  - gym tomorrow  - library tomorrow   - Business of Our Own (grade seven) sale starts tomorrow (items between $1-$7) Have a good night. 

It is so hard to believe that we are in the last week of May! Today we did our final Non Fiction Reading Assessment of the year! This afternoon we got in our lit circle groups.  The groups are having great conversations about their novels! Homework:  - home reading  - library books back tomorrow (Wednesday is our last library day of the year!)  - gym tomorrow  - we will be outside planting the garden tomorrow (weather permitting) Have a wonderful evening! 

Today we watched YOU Dance from the National Ballet of Canada.  The students were asking some great questions about dance/ballet and noticing a lot of differences in the different styles of dance.  We had a work block day today and the students got a lot of work completed. Homework:  - novel readings need to be finished to the third section for Monday  - Scholastic Book Orders due tonight (I will be submitting the order in the morning) Have a wonderful weekend.
