Mrs. Elliott's Montessori Classroom

We started our day at the library this morning since Wednesday is a holiday.  We took part in the Terry Fox Run today.  We have raised over $500 at the school.  You can still bring in donations if you have forgotten them. Homework:  - home reading  - we will be outside tomorrow morning (dress for the weather)  - no school Wednesday   - wear orange tomorrow  - Thursday is photo day  - we will be painting tomorrow Have a wonderful evening.

We walked our buddies through their first fire drill today.  We also did our first What in the World reading today.  We read about the forest fires in BC this summer. Homework:  - home reading  - gym tomorrow  - $2 for Terry Fox (run on Monday) Have a wonderful evening!

 We had a wonderful day today.  The students are each working on, "exploding a moment" that is important to them.  They are taking a special moment/memory and using their senses before writing about it.  We also met our little buddies for the first time today.  They showed their little buddy around the school and reviewed boundaries. We had a virtual field trip today to the parliament building in Victoria.  We learned all about the three levels of government.  We started working on our art cards today.   Homework:  - library tomorrow  - home reading  Have a wonderful evening! 

Today we had our first fast facts.  The students had five minutes to answer as many multiplication facts as they could.  This afternoon we celebrated the International Day of Peace.  The children sang beautifully together. Homework:  - home reading  - no school Monday Have a wonderful weekend! 

Today we worked on editing our first piece of writing.  We used an editing checklist to help us remember what to look for.  We had our first gym class today.  There will be another gym class tomorrow. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - gym tomorrow Have a wonderful evening.
