Wednesday December 17th

Today the students presented their fractured fairy tale Ozobot stories.  They did a terrific job of coding their Ozobot to match their story.  This afternoon we did concert practice in the gym.   Please remember to wear green, red, white or Grinch attire tomorrow. Homework tonight:  - a good sleep!  - any unfinished work Have a good night!

Monday December 15th

Today we started an Ozobot project.  The students have to take a fairy tale and fracture it to make it winter themed.  They then need to create a story map for their Ozobot to follow. A reminder that Secret Santa gifts should be returned to the classroom. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - unfinished writing  - library books  - outside gym Have a great evening!

Friday December 12th

We had another busy day today!  It was our last literacy rotation today.  The students have all learned a lot during these rotations.  We also were invited to the primary winter concert dress rehearsal this afternoon.  They did a wonderful job! Homework this weekend:  - home reading  - kindness challenge jobs  - Secret Santa due next week Have a great weekend!

Thursday December 11th

We had another busy day today!  We watched the drama club put on two short plays this morning.  We also looked at the timeline of Kamloops from 1900 to 2025.  In the afternoon we were lucky to have Mr. Michel come and answer many of the questions that the students had after completing some research. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - any unfinished work (timelines, math, rough copy)  - permission slip for January field trip Have a good night!

Wednesday December 10th

Today we practiced our holiday songs, they sounded much better today!  This afternoon we decorated holiday cookies with our little buddies.  They are each bringing home three cookies and have been told that they need parent permission before they eat them. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - field trip reflection  - health form  - donation items  - library books tomorrow Have a great night!

Tuesday December 9th

We did literacy stations again today.  The children also played a round of Mad Libs.  This afternoon we did a directed drawing of the Grinch!  These are looking great and I will send them home soon. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - library is Friday instead of tomorrow  - gym outside tomorrow so dress for the weather (winter gear)  - practice Grinch song tonight (link is on the google classroom)  - health forms Have a good night!

Monday December 8th

The student completed their Core Competency reflection this morning.  These will be sent home next week.  This afternoon we also reviewed the Kamloops timeline and each student chose three items that they felt were important to the history of Kamloops to write down. Homework tonight:  - writing plan if not complete  - math package if not complete (way overdue)  - outside clothes for outside gym (all week)  - home reading Have a good night!

Friday December 5th

Our act of kindness today was making cards for seniors.  These will be delivered to a seniors home next week.  We also drew names for Secret Santa this afternoon.  You child should be coming home with a slip of paper with the name of another student on it.  I also have the children list three of their interests to help with shopping.  Please stress the importance of keeping this a secret as it is about giving, not taking credit for giving the gift.  Please also keep gifts around $10.  This is about a kind gesture, not an extravagant gift. Homework this weekend:  - home reading  - health letters  - backpack items (we are short on lotion if anyone is wondering what we need.  We have lots of band aids and toothbrushes)  - secret santa Have a wonderful weekend!

Thursday December 4th

The students did a great job with their song practice today.  I will be posting the music in the google classroom later today so that they can practice from home if they like.  This afternoon each student was given an event that took place in the Kamloops area from 12 000 years ago to 1900.  They put themselves in order without talking and then we shared the history. Homework:  - home reading  - PJ day tomorrow  - library tomorrow  - math package if not complete  - Secret Santa?  Don't forget to let me know if your child wants to participate. Have a good night!

Wednesday December 3rd

In gym today the students had choice day.  We had another rotation of our literacy stations today.  In the afternoon we also practiced letter writing by writing letters to a variety of local dental offices to ask for donations to our comfort care backpack project.  We are still looking for classroom donations of lotion.  We have not had many lotion donations come in so far. Homework tonight:  - home reading  - library Friday  - email yesterday  - health letter Have a wonderful evening!

Tuesday December 2nd

Wow, December already!  Sorry for the late post today.  We had a wonderful day at Anne of Green Gables today.  The children were so respectful on the bus and during the performance.  We even had the bus driver pay them a huge compliment today on how respectful they were.  I was very impressed with the grade fives and sixes when it came to comparing and contrasting the play to the novel (we read this last year).  They remembered so many details from the original story!   I didn't send any information home in agendas today as we got back to the school rather late. Items to remember for tomorrow:  - wear winter gear  - have inside shoes Have a wonderful evening!
