Today we marked our Respiratory Packages.  We will be having a quiz on this system next week.  This afternoon the students all shared their independent explorer research with each other.   Homework this weekend:  - home reading  - compare/contrast Welcome Song paragraph if not complete  - respiratory title page if not complete Have a wonderful weekend! 

The students all shared some information this morning about the Changemaker that they read about yesterday.  Today I have given each child a brain storming form.  I am asking them to think of a cause that is important to them that they will be doing some research on.  This will require some help from parents at home. Homework:  - home reading  - 50 word dictation tomorrow  - Montessori form (grades 4 and 5)  - unfinished/late work (Explorer work, maps, word study 12)  - respiratory system  Have a great evening! 

This morning we went down to the gym to view some of the science fair projects.  This morning each student was also given a different person who has had an effect on a cause (humanitarian, engineers, philanthropists...).  Tomorrow we will be sharing out who we learned about and what they have done to better our world. Today the students started the day with gym.  We had our final literacy stations before the break.  The students shared their learning in all of the the stations today.  We will be doing a 50 word dictation on Friday. Today we had Dufflebag Theatre come and put on a presentation of Peter Pan for us.  We had a lot of work block time today.  The students should be finished or finishing up their second explorer writing good copy. Today we decorated some pink shirts to help create a school display in preparation for Pink Shirt Day next week.  This afternoon we helped our little buddies do the same and also helped them count to 100 for 100's Day! Homework:  - home reading  - fast facts  - Explorer Sheet 1 if not complete   - Young Artist submissions due tomorrow by noon  Have a great night! 

We had a large work block day today.  The students should be finished their first explorer page, if they have not completed it, it needs to be completed for homework tonight.  They should be starting their independent research on the explorer of their choice.   Homework tonight:  - Explorer good copy  -  warm outside clothes   - home reading  - fast facts practice Have a good night! 

This morning we had another rotation of our literacy stations.  I have been working with the students in my station on subject and predicate and today we talked about compound subjects and compound predicates in sentences.  This afternoon they carried on working on their Explorer project.  Their rough copies should be completed by this point.  Their good copies should be handed in by Friday at the latest. We had our muscle quiz today.  We also had a fast facts practice.  To end the day we had our Classroom Family Fun afternoon with the other Montessori class.  We played Minute to Win It games and tried some coding. It was a very busy day in the classroom today.  We discussed Quebec Carnaval and looked at the activities that take place during this celebration.  We also had Mr. Michel come in and speak with us today about the importance of music and dance. This afternoon we worked on our sewing project.  The students played Pumpkin Patch Throw-down in gym today.  Most of the day was spent as a work block.  We are working hard to finish our explorer writing.   Homework tonight:  - home reading  - muscle quiz Friday   - puzzle map colouring if not completed (this is VERY overdue!)  - Word Study Lessons nine and ten if not complete Have a good night! 

We started creating some poetry this morning.  We will continue to work with it through the week.  We had a work block at the end of the day today.  The children also worked on their Explorer projects today. We did another round of explorer rotations.  Ask your child who their favourite explorer has been so far.  Most of the day was a work block day today.  Due to an increase in conversations in the classroom, many children will be bringing maps home to colour this weekend.  Please ask your child if they have a map to finish. Year fives have been working on multi step multiplication questions.  Please provide your child with a question a day to help them solidify this concept. This morning the students continued working on their explorer stations.  In the afternoon we did a math estimation activity.  The fives and sixes have also started to write a short biography on an Olympic athlete.   Homework:  - home reading  - yr 5 math multiplication review if not complete  - fast facts tomorrow  Have a good night!

The students started working on a project about early Explorers in Canada.  They will work through ten stations and then complete two biography assignments on two explorers of their choice. Homework:  - home reading  - WITW if not complete  - muscle title page if not complete  - muscle package if not complete Have a good night!

This afternoon we talked about muscles and lactic acid.  The students did an experiment to see what happens when we work our muscles.  We had another big work block day today.  Some fo the children may not have finished all of their work and could be bringing work home to finish up if not completed.
