Well, unfortunately I was home sick today and did not get to have the goodbye I would have liked with the students today. I hope that everyone has a wonderful summer. I look forward to seeing all of the children in September!

We had a super fun Year in a Day celebration today. We celebrated New Years, Valentine's Day, Easter, Spring Break, May Long Weekend Camping, National Indigenous Day, Canada Day, Summer Holidays, Halloween and Christmas! It was a busy, but fun day! We had a presentation in the gym today to learn more about indigenous weaving. The children were starting to finish up their work and many started to help prepare the Montessori materials for the summer break. We had our last Work Block Wednesday of the year today! This morning we went and looked at the biomes that were created in another class. We also had our last fire drill of the year. We did some drama games in the afternoon and shared a lot of laughs! This morning we wrote about our favourite biome. Tomorrow we will do some animal research on an animal that lives in our favourite biome. Next Monday we will be having a Maker Day to create the biome our animal lives in. In the afternoon we went on a scavenger hunt in the gym. Looking at a floor sized indigenous map we looked for 20 different items. Today we had our big five and fast facts review. Today we focused our fast facts on 6-8. We went to watch the grade seven classes put on their final band and drama concert. Today we did a RoboThink workshop. The students had so much fun creating and building! We had a work block day today as the children have a couple of projects on the go right now. I cannot believe it is June!!! This morning we talked about Book Trailers and started to write our own for the novels that we just read. We had a good chat today about the expectations for our field trip to McQueen Lake tomorrow. Please make sure that your child is not late, as I would hate for them to not come on the trip. We also practiced our Air Bands today. They will performing these on Friday. Homework tonight: - McQueen Lake Field Trip tomorrow 1) Lunch and snack (your child will be responsible for packing out their own garbage.) 2) water for the day. 3) runners or good walking shoes. 4) a hat/ light jacket/possible umbrella? 5) possibly sunscreen/insect repellant.
